Search Engine Marketing: it’s not dead

Search Engine Marketing: it’s not dead

Search Engine Marketing ensures your online business ranks better for organic traffic.

Landing Page Optimisation

Search engine marketing is becoming a more significant driver of business and market share expansion than it has ever been in the past. Whilst search engine optimisation (SEO) is not the complete answer (a company should have a solid pay per click strategy as well) if done well, it can provide companies with an outstanding return on investment. Unfortunately if done poorly, SEO can have a dramatically negative impact on a business. Despite promises from many consultants and companies, there is no tricks or easy techniques to get your website magically up on Google rankings. Competition for top spaces in search engine results is now more competitive, more crowded, and faster changing than it is today.

MOZ

SEMRush

Search engine marketing is not trying to beat the system, but working with it. Gone are the days where you could list as many keywords in your meta tags and copy on the page - this is known as "keyword stuffing" and is generally frowned upon by Google. The same with backlinks (traffic sources from low quality sources), you cannot create spammy backlinks anymore to drive traffic to your website. Google's Panda and Penguin updates ensured that websites with spammy links and content stuffed with keywords will be down-ranked. Thus sending out a strong message that it will rank higher those websites that offer consistent and high quality content.

Search Engine Marketing

So what are Google looking for? Good SEO includes (although not limited to) evaluating the types of content you have on your website, checking your website structure for duplicate content, tags and categories that hurt your rankings, good meta data for each different page, on page factors such as H1 or H2 tags and a minimal amount of internal linking, even your contact information and of course being mobile friendly.
